Neglected
Repairs Rise:
Data compiled by the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers
Association (AASA) reveals that the incidence of unperformed
vehicle maintenance has jumped by over 29%, from about
%43 billion in 2003, to an estimated $56 billion last
year. Topping the list of neglected service were repairs
in the "undercar" category. Frank Hampshire,
ASSA's director of market research attributed the drop
in service, in part to rising gasoline prices. Consumers
tended to perform maintenance," he says, "when
the felt it could improve their vehicle's fuel efficiency." |
